ART DECO WEDDING CAKE

The layouts on this particular cake hark back to another time—when sandals were music was for dancing, and jewelry took a jump to the long run. However, you do not need to know your Art Deco to admire its fashion that is geometric. Covered in piped dots of frosting buttercream, and cut-fondant plaques with sanding sugar coated, it's just plain pretty, regardless of how you slice it.

DUTCH GOLDEN AGE WEDDING CAKE

Inspired by the hyper- naturalistic botanical still-life paintings of Dutch artist Rachel Ruysch, circa 1685 to 1750, more than one guest is going to do a double take in the sight of this cake, which resembles a lush floral centerpiece. Custom-made sugar flowers, created by Amy DeGiulio of Sugar Flower Cake Shop in New York, were put in a bed of chocolate-fondant-covered cake, that was set in a gold urn that is large. Fill the cake's layers with rosewater buttercream to call it's blossom adornments out.

CRUSHED-CANDY WEDDING CAKE

WHITE-CHOCOLATE PANELED WEDDING CAKE

Architectural however familiar, our white-chocolate panel cake needs neither culinary talents nor layout skills (besides those you learned in preschool). Just purchase a buttercream cake from a pack of chocolate panels from chocolatier Christopher Norman and also a nearby bakery. The remainder is a cakewalk: Stick panels of varying heights onto the layers, and fill the ledges with gold raspberries or a different fruit.

ROSE-PIPED WEDDING CAKE

This joyful rose confection may seem couture, but just about anyone is capable of re-creating it. Focus on a basic fondant cake from a bakery. Next, print out our template of roses that are abstract, area parchment paper and outline using a piping bag of royal icing. Once dry, peel the paper in the piped roses, and stick the designs to the cake using gum paste that's been combined with hot water.

CHOCOLATE STOUT WEDDING CAKE

Each layer of the chocolate naked cake by Wendy Kromer- Caitlin Brown and Schell is full of buttercream, drizzled with caramel and chocolate ganache, and topped with candied pecans. Meanwhile, the actual cake comprises butter, yogurt, and stout (customize yours with your favorite brew), making each bite decadently moist.

OMBRE WEDDING CAKE

Wendy Kromer- Caitlin Brown concealed blood-orange and Schell and passion-fruit curds in tinted vanilla poundcake because of this buttercream-dotted confection. Bake yours a bit larger than desirable so that browned edges may be trimmed off, revealing the lively ombre layout underneath.

MINIATURE CHOCOLATE-COVERED WEDDING CAKES

Elaborate: Yes. (Perch the cakes on a wire stand so extra glaze does not pool.) Then we lightly pulled a toothpick to generate the designs.

HEART WEDDING CAKE

Long ago, the heart was considered to function as source of most human emotions. Though modern science shows otherwise, the phrase "giving your heart" continues to be the best approach to express that you simply had sacrifice anything for the one you love. Jay Qualls of the Tennessee-based Maples Wedding Cakes printed our designs on paper, covered them in parchment, outlined them with royal icing, then transferred them onto fondant.

FRENCH AND IKAT SILK RIBBON WEDDING CAKE

The spirit of a century-old French silk ribbon might be felt in every morsel of this darling cake. On top rests a dramatic bow of molded glue paste (so realistic, you'll be tempted to untie it). Afterward we painted edible luster dust mixed with lemon extract onto the fondant in a rose design that evokes the blurry quality of an ikat weave.

SPRING WEDDING CAKE

Springerle molds are what make this cake (an orange-chiffon confection full of mascarpone) excellent. Although the unique purple tint and springtime characters (bunnies, birds, and blooms) are not too shabby, either.

WHITE ROSE WEDDING CAKE

This bloom's reputation as the most definitive love symbol in nature comes in the Greeks, who used the flower to symbolize the goddess Venus. White roses, particularly, have come to symbolize true love, and purity, unity —as opposed to red roses' association with fire—which has earned them the status of Ultimate Wedding Flower. Here, New York City cake guru Sylvia Weinstock blanketed three layers of cake in handmade, edible sugar petals to gently hark back to the design of a French croquembouche—and develop a temple to Cupid's favorite bloom.

A WEDDING CAKE WITH DIFFERENT STRIPES

Here, we set the idea of icing on ice, relying rather on unadorned pale layers for graphical appeal. Coconut pound cake, tinted with gel-paste food coloring, functions as the base, while white fondant and passion-fruit curd rests on top (the curd is, in addition, between each layer).

JAPANESE SPONGE WEDDING CAKE

The filling is lemon-ginger mousse, and the designs could be customized (wedding crest or monogram, anyone?).

WEDDING PETIT FOURS

Soaked in honey glaze, and brown sugar, butter, these geometric minis - Schell and Caitlin Brown resemble honeycombs. We topped them off with a helping of candied kumquats and whipped cream.

EMBROIDERED LACE AND APPLIQUED WEDDING CAKE

Sugar paste was pressed into each form, then applied in layers to the fondant. The ivory tower that is consequent is one that both generations— your mum's and yours —will adore.

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE WEDDING CAKE
